Job Summary
The Total Experience Learning® (TExpL®) Institute at Alvernia University seeks motivated, student-centered college interns to support programming within the Momentum Makers Summer Program and other TExpL® initiatives. TExpL® Interns support instructors and program staff in delivering experiential, inquiry-driven curriculum designed to empower learners of all ages with essential academic, professional, and life skills. Interns receive training in the Total Experience Learning® methodology and contribute meaningfully to program planning, facilitation, and reflection. This hourly, as-needed position offers a unique opportunity to grow as an educator, mentor, and leader while supporting innovative youth and community-centered programming.
Essential Functions
TExpL® Interns support students, educators, and professionals of all ages while modeling Alvernia University and TExpL® core values in all interactions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in required onboarding, orientation, and training sessions introducing Total Experience Learning® methods, program logistics, safety expectations, and scheduling.
- Attendadditionaltraining sessions prior to participation in any new program or initiative.
- Attend assigned summer programming weeks and hours during the program.
- Serve as a teaching assistant during TExpL® programming, supporting instructors with facilitation, small-group instruction, and activity implementation based on individual strengths, skills, and interests.
- Supervise, mentor, and support students during hands-on projects, research activities, and experiential learning experiences.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity, independence, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Assist students in preparing personalized applications of the Total Experience Learning® methodology.
- Support program operations, including welcoming participants, organizing materials and data, managing supplies, and assisting with program setup and teardown.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in reflection, feedback, and planning conversations as needed.
- Be available to discuss student work and progress with instructors and program staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism by arriving on time, communicating availability clearly, and notifying supervisors as soon as possible if unable to attend a scheduled shift.
- Utilize effective instructional strategies shared through training and promote the use of resources that support independent and experiential learning.
- Report any concerns related to student safety, program quality, or operations to the Director of Student Programs.
- Serve as a positive role model who reflects Alvernia University’s commitment to ethical behavior, service to others, and respect for human dignity.
- Demonstrate an active commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging by valuing diverse identities, perspectives, and experiences in all aspects of work.
- Collaborate with existing partners and support the development of new partnerships that align with the mission and goals of TExpL® and Alvernia University.
- Follow all University policies and procedures and maintain credibility within the campus and broader community.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Education
- Minimum of a high school diploma (current college enrollment preferred).
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required child clearances and background checks mandated by Alvernia University prior to working with minors.
- Demonstrated interest in mentoring, teaching, or supporting youth and young adults.

Physical Requirements
- Regular attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
